Dump 2.0: A Monumental Disimprovement
For anyone who’s been living in a cave since November 4, 2024, Dump* won the election and has become “president” for a second term. I put the word president in quotes because not only is he NOT presidential, but he actually took the oath of office without having had his hand on either of the two Bibles Melania was holding (we know because one or both might have burst into flames), which is basically the official equivalent of making a promise to a peer on the playground while having one hand behind one’s back negating that very promise.
While I would like to dwell on his screwing over his supporters who paid good money for tickets and transportation and hotels to attend the outdoor inauguration, while Dump went ahead and held it indoors in the presence of his oligarchical buddies and some political officials, we need to move on to his first few hours in office.
We know he was chomping at the bit to get back into the Oval Office, and False Socialing his plans for executive orders for everything from changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to pardoning and releasing violent convicted felons back into society – which he did. He, being a convicted felon himself, no doubt has a degree of empathy for these people, although he has not served day one in prison, but he’s let them go free despite their lack of contrition and vows to repeat the same crimes that got them locked up in the first place.
But the fact is that after Dump’s first disastrous turn at the helm, President Biden passed actual legislation making it harder to do everything by executive order. Dump used them because he didn’t know how to write legislation or to use the legislative process, and he’s doing it again, mostly for the same reason, but also because he sees himself as some sort of elected dictator or king who can just wave his magic Sharpie and his will be done; but that ain’t the case.
Many of the “executive orders” Dump has signed were for show. He can’t actually change the name of the Gulf of Mexico because it is an international body of water, and any name change would have to have international approval. If he wants to call it something other than its name, he can do so, but that won’t change it on international maps. He has also tried to do away with birthright citizenship, but that is written into the Constitution itself, and he cannot unilaterally change the Constitution.
The fact is that we are a nation of laws with a pretty comprehensive Constitution (which he has yet to read) and we need to abide by the Constitution. Dump cannot unilaterally make changes to it – that has to be done by two thirds of the states. Whatever he’s doing is not actually changing the Constitution, but violating portions of it. And despite the oath he sort of took, he is already working against the US by mocking our allies and praising our enemies, and by starting, as a business venture, a bitcoin currency that competes with the US dollar.
Because we know all the violations of the Constitution Dump committed during his last term, we need to be especially vigilant this time around, lest he attempt to cancel the 2028 election and try to remain in office indefinitely. Thank goodness he’s an old man and probably doesn’t have so many years left, but the years he was in office during his first term were bad enough, and these next four years will be nightmarish, especially since he now has the full backing of the Heritage Foundation – their heritage solely derived from their being hatched in the Hellmouth† – and Project 2025. Not surprisingly, he denies all knowledge of the Heritage Foundation and its founder, even though there is video of him at one of their meetings giving some sort of speech and shaking hands with the founder, and he denies knowing anything at all about Project 2025 (https://www.project2025.org/policy/), even though a good deal of the speech he gave recently was read directly from it.
At this point, apart from Dump also having been hatched in the the Hellmouth, I would say that the analysis of the Yale psychiatrist and her colleagues fell short by about a hundred years; Dump not only suffers from malignant narcissism and psychopathy, but Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and that is dangerous. The more you tell him no, the more he’ll want to do exactly the opposite, so this may be more like Go than chess. The questions is how to deal with him, but as simple as planning a strategy may seem, he has no regard for the consequences of his decisions, as long as he does the opposite of what everyone else in the room suggests.
So it is vitally important that we wait, watch, pounce and grab him by the short hairs (wearing gloves, of course), but he needs to be caught incontrovertibly violating the Constitution in multiple way, in ways that personally offend even his most ardent supporters, and hauled off to jail. Why no one has thus far had the cojones to jail him is a question for another essay, but he needs to be removed from society, period. He is officially a danger to himself and others, but in the course of this dangerous behavior, he risks killing American democracy, and that is unacceptable and unforgivable.
* A serendipitous contraction of the first letter of his first name and the last three letters of his surname.
